A study published in 2003 from the Netherlands reported that depression was found more commonly in persons with a low intake of omega-3 fatty acids. The vegetarian can secure omega-3 from ground flax seed, walnuts, soy products, and canola oil. A Finnish study recently reported that higher intakes of omega-3 are associated with a substantially overall reduced risk of death.

The top 10 reasons why I take care of my health:
  1. To reduce health care costs
  2. To enjoy an improved quality of life
  3. So I can work more efficiently and better serve humankind
  4. My social relationships are richer and more meaningful
  5. To avoid disease and experience an increased life span
  6. God desires me to have good health (3 John 2)
  7. God wants to dwell within me (1 Cor 3:16)
  8. I can perform service to God more faithfully
  9. My mind is clearer to understand my Christian responsibilities
  10. So that I can more fully reflect the image of God in my life
