The popular South Beach diet, created by Dr Arthur Agatston, is a slight modification of the Atkins diet. It allows red meat, cheese, and eggs but limits the use of sugar and white flour. Dr Agatston permits carbohydrates and most vegetables high in fiber, but discourages the use of high glycemic index foods such as baked potatoes and carrots. He also discourages the use of butter and fried foods. Any short-term weight loss success would be attributed to a low caloric intake, rather than to any special feature of the diet.

Got A Minute or Two For Your Health?

Health is much more than life without disease. It is a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. It is the optimal functioning of every system of the human mind and body working in perfect harmony with every other part. This does not happen by chance. We have to work at it. It takes time and thought.

Today's society is so rushed, few people invest time in developing a healthy lifestyle. But good health results from making good choices on a regular basis. We must decide daily what to eat and drink, and when. We have to organize our life and work schedule to get adequate rest and relaxation. We must take time to develop meaningful social relationships. Every day we should plan 15-30 minutes for exercise. Understanding and following God's will must be chosen as a priority for our lives.

Time invested every day in building and maintaining a balanced lifestyle is time well spent. God requires a strict account of how we use our time.
